Fabric Glossary--

High quality of our garments are one of our strengths. Here you'll find brief facts about the various materials which Lingon & Blåbär use.

Knitwear
Our knitwear is manufactured in cotton. We chose cotton for the comfortable soft feeling this natural fibre gives. Some types of cotton have additions of Lycra or elastane fibre to give the material more elasticity. The majority of our knitwear is produced with combed, long-fibred yarn to avoid knots and nap and for better wear resistance. Our knitwear is tested by selected laboratories and has received very good test values for shrink-resistance and colourfastness. We gladly recommend our knitwear for children with allergies and sensitive skin.

We use the following grades of knitwear:

Jogging
Jogging is a somewhat heavier cotton fabric. Our jogging is knit with S&Z technology to counteract twisting. This makes jogging a grade that passes even the textile laboratory’s toughest tests. We produce our popular pants David and our heavier sweaters in jogging fabric.

Cotton/Elastane
Cotton with additions of elastane give garments elasticity and mouldability. Cotton with additions of elastane is primarily used for lighter garments such as tops, figure-hugging sweaters, capri pants and hair ribbons.

Cotton rib
Our ribbed knitwear in 100% cotton is a velvety-soft natural material with good elasticity. Cotton rib is primarily used for more figure-hugging garments such as our popular turtlenecks.

Milano rib
Our Milano Rib is composed of 95% cotton and 5% Lycra. It is a heavy and soft grade which is very elastic and very high quality, which we primarily use in our bootlegs.

Ribbing
Ribbed cuffs of 95% cotton and 5% Lycra make the garment elastic and help it to keep its shape. Cuffs are used for instance in necks and sleeves and in our tights.

Piqué cotton
Piqué is a cotton fabric with a texture-knit surface. The piqué cotton material is primarily used for sweaters and dresses for summer use.

Rugby
Rugby is a textured cotton knitwear that can handle rough stuff. The material is somewhat heavier and is primarily used for sweaters.

Singlejersey
Our single jersey is a soft and comfortable cotton type which is pre-washed or knit with S&Z technology to prevent the garment from twisting. Single jersey is used in our fine T-shirts, Pyjamas Sailor and nightgown Sailor. We use a somewhat heavier single jersey for sweaters and skirts.

WOVEN FABRICS
Our woven fabrics come from European countries that fulfil our high requirements for quality and environmentally-friendly production. Here we also chose primarily types with pure cotton. Some of the garments are produced using cotton with polyester or nylon, which makes the fabric durable and easily handled.

DENIM
Our comfortable denim has added Lycra to make it as comfortable as possible. The garments are pre-washed and have therefore very little shrinkage.

FLEECE
Fleece is a lovely soft fabric made from polyester. The advantage with fleece is that it “breathes” which means that it moves moisture away from the body. We use fleece to produce caps and jackets.
